An immersive experience in the Teramo province discovering art, local food and culture.

On 8 August 2022, Destination Abruzzo was invited by the GAL (Local Action Group) to attend the "Gal e Dintorni" event, an initiative that takes place during August and September 2022, and aims at promoting the artistic, historical-cultural and culinary excellences of the territory by offering to its guests a unique, immersive, authentic and engaging experience. "Gal e Dintorni" initiatives, are promoted with a view to GENERATING A NEW AWARENESS ABOUT THE TERRITORY, which at the foundation of the activities of the Gal, THE IMPORTANCE OF THE "NETWORK" BETWEEN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE ACTORS.

ITA: In data 8 agosto 2022 Destination Abruzzo è stato invitato dal GAL (Gruppo di Azione Locale) per presenziare all'iniziativa "Gal e Dintorni", un'iniziativa che si svolge nel periodo di agosto/settembre 2022, con l'obiettivo di promuovere e valorizzare le eccellenze del territorio in termini di risorse artistiche, storico-culturali ed enogastronomiche offrendo ai suoi ospiti

un'esperienza unica, immersiva, autentica e coinvolgente nella cornice suggestiva delle location individuate, eccellenze che, con l'iniziativa "Gal e Dintorni", vengono promosse nell'ottica di GENERARE UNA NUOVA CONSAPEVOLEZZA SUL TERRITORIO, che è alla base delle attività del Gal, ossia L'IMPORTANZA DELLA "RETE" TRA ATTORI PUBBLICI E PRIVATI.

As mentioned, the Terreverdi Teramane Local Action Group (GAL) is a local development agency, it is made up of public and private entities and implements a Local Development Plan (PSL) in the area. For the first time, a company was born in the hillside area of Teramo with the task, through the partnership of public and private local entities, of starting a new phase of the economic, social and promotional movement to benefit the rural areas. Born in November 2016, it presents a tangible Local Development strategy ("TOGETHER FOR A GROWING QUALITY TERRITORY") and focuses on two fundamental themes: "DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATION OF LOCAL PRODUCTION CHAINS AND SYSTEMS" and "SUSTAINABLE TOURISM".

ITA: Come detto, il Gruppo di Azione Locale (GAL) Terreverdi Teramane è un'agenzia di sviluppo locale, è formata da soggetti pubblici e privati e realizza sul territorio un Piano di Sviluppo Locale (PSL). Per la prima volta nasce nell'Area medio-collinare teramana una Società con il compito, attraverso la compartecipazione degli Enti Pubblici e Privati del territorio, di avviare una nuova fase di animazione economica, sociale e promozionale delle Aree Rurali. Nata nel novembre 2016, presenta una concreta strategia di Sviluppo Locale ("INSIEME PER UN TERRITORIO DI QUALITA' CHE CRESCE") e si concentra su due fondamentali tematiche: "SVILUPPO E INNOVAZIONE DELLE FILIERE E DEI SISTEMI PRODUTTIVI LOCALI" e "TURISMO SOSTENIBILE", due tematiche che, per la qualità delle opportunità esistenti, vanno considerate fortemente integrate, costituendo, appunto, un'unica ed integrata strategia territoriale.

But let's see how it took place and how many great memories this fantastic day has left indelible in our eyes (and hearts).

The tour began at the Mazzarosa Devincenzi Winery, inside the Borsacchio reserve, and gave us unique emotions. Just think that the winery holds the record of hosting  the largest barrel in Europe.

The barrel has a capacity of 100,000 liters, equal to a weight of 1000 quintals, a record that only a few other wineries have tried to achieve: Bordeaux, Paris and L'Aquila. For this and other innovations, the Mazzarosa Devincenzi Winery has even received three medals in the past.

In the wine business since 1863, the winery has passionately handed down the history of this wonderful estate from father to son with an attentive and respectful approach towards the environment and nature. They cultivate the vineyards for environmental sustainability by producing wines that can show proof of the tradition and innovation of this territory, Abruzzo.

ITA: Ma andiamo a vedere come si è svolta e quante meraviglie ha lasciato indelebili nei nostri occhi (e nei nostri cuori) questa fantastica giornata.

Il tour ha avuto inizio presso la Cantina Mazzarosa Devincenzi, all'interno della riserva del Borsacchio, e ci ha regalato emozioni davvero uniche...Basti pensare che la cantina conserva quella che è a tutti gli effetti la botte più grande d'Europa: e sì, avete capito bene!

La botte presenta una capacità di ben 100.000 litri (!) pari ad un peso di 1000 quintali, un primato solo avvicinato da altre realtà presenti a Bordeaux, Parigi e L'Aquila. Per questo e per altre innovazioni in passato l'azienda ha persino ricevuto tre medaglie.

Produttori dal 1863, la Cantina tramanda con passione la storia di questa meravigliosa tenuta di padre in figlio e con un occhio sempre attento e rispettoso nei riguardi dell'ambiente e delle natura che ci circonda coltivano i vigneti in un'ottica di sostenibilità ambientale producendo

vini che possano raccontare tradizione e innovazione di questo territorio, l'Abruzzo.

The tour continued in the picturesque village of Montepagano where, after a short but interesting visit to the beautiful SS. Annunziata church, we reached the Porta da Piè and the Porta Belvedere, where we enjoyed a breathtaking view. We had a wide open view of the entire Adriatic coast and the Vomano valley, “guarded” to the south by Maiella and the Gran Sasso massif.

ITA: Successivamente il tour è proseguito nell'incantevole borgo di Montepagano quando, dopo una breve ma interessante visita del bellissimo Sagrato della SS. Annunziata, siamo giunti alla Porta da Piè e alla Porta Belvedere quando dinanzi a noi si è aperto alla vista uno scenario da togliere

il fiato...Davanti ai nostri occhi si presentava tutta la costa adriatica passando poi per la vallata del fiume Vomano maternamente custodita dalla Maiella e difesa dal Gran Sasso che chiude questo circolo panoramico.

After so much beauty, we were welcomed into the panoramic garden of L' Antica Barricaia (event room of "La nostra Magione", a charming BnB) where we enjoyed another great view of the Abruzzo territory.

ITA: Dopo tanta bellezza ancora presente nei nostri occhi siamo stati accolti nel giardino panoramico de L' Antica Barricaia (sala eventi de "La nostra Magione", quello che più che un BnB potremmo definirlo un vero e proprio gioiello..) dove anche qui la vista si presentava mozzafiato...

To top off the evening, while at the L' Antica Barricaia we attended a live cooking show while tasting excellent food and wines (in this regard, an important mention is a must for the Acquaviva “Gnocco Lungo”!) entertained by the music of the "Daniele Falasca 4ET-Triad".

ITA: A chiudere la serata all'interno de L' Antica Barricaia un vero e proprio live show cooking con degustazioni di eccellenze enogastronomiche (a tal proposito una menzione di rilievo è doverosa per lo gnocco lungo degli Acquaviva!) e concerto finale di "Daniele Falasca 4ET-Triade".

The MISSION of the LAG is to (re)discover places in a particular context, promoting their value and combining ART, TASTE and CULTURE at the same time.

Goal widely achieved!!

ITA: La MISSION del GAL è quella di far (ri)scoprire i luoghi in un contesto particolare promuovendone il valore e coniugando allo stesso tempo ARTE, GUSTO e CULTURA.

Obiettivo ampiamente raggiunto!!
