The "Tavole dei Briganti"

L’Abruzzo è una terra fantastica, ricca di misteri, leggende, miti e panorami da togliere il fiato.

La scorsa settimana insieme alla mia famiglia siamo stati a Passolanciano una località sciistica nel Parco Nazionale della Majella e da lì insieme al nostro piccolo di 4 anni ci siamo avventurati in una passeggiata che dal Rifugio Pomilio in circa un’ora e venti minuti riconduce in un posto pazzesco: La Tavola dei Briganti.

Lasciata la macchina al rifugio Pomilio, 1.888m sul livello del mare inizia l’itinerario “Indro Montanelli” che è un’area pedonale e per diversamente abili (percorribile anche con i bimbi sul passeggino).

Arrivati alla fine dell’area pedonale ti troverai un colle alla cui cima c’è il Blockhaus e nel mezzo una madonnina. 

Da quì c’è un sentiero che devi seguire fino ad arrivare al cartello che indica la “Tavola dei Briganti” attraversando il caratteristico “pino mugo”.

La Tavola dei Briganti è una serie di rocce calcaree, dove briganti e pastori hanno inciso le loro testimonianze, particolarmente in relazione al periodo dell'unificazione italiana.

La frase più suggestiva incisa sulla roccia è la seguente:

Visitato questo luogo dopo altri 15 minuti di cammino c’è la fontana Acquaviva così da rinfrescarti con della buona acqua di montagna. 

Il sentiero per arrivare alla Tavola dei Briganti da la possibilità di camminare sul crinale, chiamato Scrimacavallo, della montagna ammirando la Majella e le diverse valli che si aprono sui fianchi, sopra le nuvole e che si muovono per il fenomeno della pareidolia dove Giorgio ha persino avvistato una nuvola dinosauro.... insomma un sentiero bellissimo e che consiglio vivamente.

Last week my family andI went to Passolanciano, a ski resort in the Majella National Park and from there, together with our 4-year-old, we ventured on a walk starting from the Rifugio Pomilio leading, in about an hour and twenty minutes, to an incredible place called: The Table of the Brigands.

After leaving the car at the Pomilio refuge, 1,888m above sea level, the "Indro Montanelli" itinerary begins, which is a pedestrian area practible also for disabled as well as accessible with children in strollers.

Arriving at the end of the pedestrian area, you will find a hill on the top of which is the Blockhaus and a Madonna in the middle.

From here there is a path that you can follow until you reach the sign indicating the "Tavola dei Briganti" crossing the characteristic "mountain pines".

The Tavola dei Briganti is a series of limestone rocks, where brigands and shepherds have engraved their testimonies, particularly in relation to the period of Italian unification.

The most suggestive sentence engraved on the rock is the following:

After visiting this place, in another 15 minutes of walk there is the Acquaviva fountain, you can cool off with fresh spring water.

The path to get to the Tavola dei Briganti gives the opportunity to walk on the ridge, called Scrimacavallo, of the mountain admiring the Majella and the different valleys that openup to the sides, above the clouds and that move due to the pareidolia phenomenon where Giorgio even has spotted a dinosaur shaped cloud.... in short, a beautiful path that I highly recommend. Suitable for adults and children.
